Ann Murphy, English teacher, is beginning her third year at Thornton Friends and her twenty-sixth year as an English teacher. She graduated with an MAT from Harvard Graduate School of Education and has worked for both public and private schools.

David Frye, Science teacher, is beginning his fifth year at Thornton Friends School. He comes to Thornton from the Montgomery County Public School system with over 30 years science teaching experience. He has a BS in Biology Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) and has worked on a Fine Arts degree at Western Maryland College (now called William McDaniel’s College).

Norman Maynard, Principal and Digital Photography teacher, enters his thirteenth year at Thornton, his tenth as Principal of the upper school. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from Catholic University, and a Masters of Art in Writing from the University of San Francisco. |

Samantha Dubit, Counselor, is excited to return for her third year at Thornton Friends. She has a background in education and spent several years teaching before earning her Master’s in Counseling degree from the Johns Hopkins University. She has had over nine years experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults. She is working at the middle and upper schools this year. |

Sean Compagnucci, Dean of Students and Critical Thinking teacher, is in his twelfth year at Thornton after having taught in public, private, day and boarding schools. Along the way, he has earned a BA from Oberlin College and an MAT from Brown University. |
