Thornton Friends School serves a range of students including those who may need a small, nurturing environment in which to thrive.  Faculty have considerable roles in school governance through faculty meetings.  Thornton has a middle and upper school in Silver Spring, Maryland. Ideally, applicants will have familiarity with Friends practices and beliefs.  Faculty and staff should be comfortable with working with a range of students, including some who need re-energizing of their interest in school.  The spiritual life of the school is strong and informs the growth of teachers and students.  Patience, creativity and a calm, loving approach are highly prized.
